Tip #70: Turned around

conferencebadge-2-crop-sq-sm

Know the conference name-badge code. If it’s on backwards, so you can’t read my name, leave me alone.

(Special note to the clever conference organizers who print attendee names on both sides of their badges: You’ll get yours).

Ok, but then don’t walk up to my booth with your badge backwards and ask me: “So, what do y’all do?” We want to know who you are. Vendors spend A LOT of money on these events, so please don’t blame us if we only want to engage with actual opportunities and not Jim Stevens of Jim Stevens Consulting.

  2. @floor geek: It’s a deal. I always introduce myself anyway.

I wish I would have known that trick when I was still an editor. Would have saved me a lot of boring conversations.

  4. I hate those badges that refuse to sit flat, or the ones that spontaneously flip backwards!

Honest to goodness I never knew this rule. Good to know. I am having a true “duh” moment.

  6. Didn’t know this, but it’s brilliant. Thx Rafe
