Misspelling the name is also a no-no
Another take on this is when you don’t get things lined up right and the email goes out, “Dear [Editor],”…
…I hate it when that happens.
Does anyone still use a mail merge for pitching? How quaint and such a waste
It helps if you know the guy’s name to start with. I had to email someone I’d never met yesterday. His company’s website spelled his name one way and his email address spelled it another way! (The latter was correct.)
